How are our Coaches trained?
Each Step2Play coach is required to hold, at minimum, a Football Australia Grassroots Coaching License, ensuring they understand safe, structured, and age-appropriate coaching practices. Coaches also hold a Working With Children Check (WWCC) and First Aid certification. In addition, all coaches receive internal training and mentoring from Head Coach and Co-Founder Jack Niblock, ensuring sessions follow the Step2Play coaching philosophy and maintain a consistent, high-quality development environment for all players.
What age groups do you coach?
Step2Play primarily provides structured soccer coaching for players aged 6-16 years, with sessions designed to support technical development, game understanding, and confidence at each stage of growth. However, we can also offer assistance and training for older players when required, depending on availability and development goals.
What should players bring to training?
Players should bring football boots, shin pads, a water bottle, and appropriate training clothing. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are also encouraged so players can get the most out of each session.
What is the focus of Step2Play training sessions?
Step2Play sessions focus on technical skill development, game awareness, decision making, and confidence on the ball. Training is designed to be structured, engaging, and supportive to help players improve while enjoying the game.
